Geographic Techniques Store

Posted in Uncategorized on June 24, 2011 by Geographic Techniques

Yes indeed.  I now have a Store solely dedicated to my map products and promotional material. Why not?  Sure, I make a very small royalty off each item, but I honestly believe this can be a great resource for supplying printed map products at a reasonable price.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Wisconsin Tornado Track Map, 1950-2010

Posted in Cartography/Maps on November 28, 2010 by Geographic Techniques

After some minor delays (well, we had two more late season tornadoes in southeastern Wisconsin on November 22) the Wisconsin Tornado Track map has been updated.  You can now download PDF versions of the map, including a 15 page table of vital statistics for each tornado event.  An updated KMZ file of the tracks is also available for viewing in Google Earth.

“Life’s the Same, I’m Moving in Stereo…”

Okay, so it’s not the ”Cars” (alternative rock group), but stereoscopic imagery is the current Feature Map at my web site (below is that stereo pair image from Wausau, WI).  Any problems seeing the effect (no special glasses needed)?

And it’s not too difficult to create with photography either!

Tornado Update Clarification

Posted in Uncategorized on July 13, 2010 by Geographic Techniques

I had a couple of off-blog questions regarding the tables in the 1950-2009 Wisconsin tornado track map update:   The table is correct to show EF scale ratings beginning in 2007, and the county references are alphabetical and not necessarily in order of occurrence.

Thank you for your concerns.  I will incorporate a clearer understanding of these issues on the next update, which I hope to have posted sometime in early Autumn (and will include 2010 tornadoes).
